Is Railtime free?

Yes. Railtime is free to use, and all core features - including the main departure boards and core widgets - will remain free.

In the future, optional Pro features may be introduced for people who want more powerful tools for their regular journeys. These optional features would help support ongoing development and server costs, while keeping the essential train times experience free for everyone.

Where does Railtime get its data?

Railtime uses official National Rail Enquiries data for accurate, live train information.

Widgets

How do I add a Railtime widget?

Make sure you’ve favourited at least one station in the app.
On your Home Screen, touch and hold an empty area, tap the + button, search for “Railtime,” then choose a widget (Departure Board, Interactive Board, or Clock).
After adding, touch and hold the widget, tap “Edit Widget,” then pick a station (from your favourites) and any filters.
Choose a theme/appearance for each widget.

Why is my widget showing outdated information?

iOS controls how often widgets refresh to preserve battery life. Railtime requests updates roughly every 30 minutes, but actual refresh timing is decided by the system based on usage patterns and other factors.

TipOn the Interactive widget, tapping a service fetches the latest data so you can see the latest times right away.

TipYou can also tap the widget or station name to open Railtime and see the latest departures any time.

Siri

How do I ask Siri for train times?

Try built-in phrases like “Find departures using Railtime” or “Get departures using Railtime.”
Or create a Shortcuts automation for your station, then invoke it with Siri by saying the shortcut name (e.g., “What’s my commute like?”).
